Kathmandu, February 1

Nepal lost to Bangladesh by five wickets in their first super six match of the U19 World Cup being held in South Africa.

Winning the toss and batting first, Nepal got off to a poor start losing Bipin Rawal, Akash Tripathi and Arjun Kumal in the powerplay. The innings was then steadied by captain Dev Khanal and Bishal Bikram KC with a partnership of 62 runs. But as Khanal threw this wicket away, wickets continued to tumble as Nepal were bowled out for 169 in 49.2 overs.

Rohanat Doullah Borson was superb with the ball for Bangladesh as he picked up 4 wickets giving away only 19 runs in 8.5 overs.

In reply, Bangladesh got off to a flyer thanks to openers Ashiqur Rahman Shibli and Jishan Alam who put up a 67-run stand to give them a good base to chase down the modest total.

Subash Bhandari with his off breaks did trouble the Bangladeshi batters who could not pick his straight one as he picked up all five Bangladeshi wickets that fell on Wednesday. However, Jishan Alam and Ahrar Amin scored 55 and 59 runs respectively to give Bangladesh an easy victory with nearly 25 overs to spare.

Nepal play their final super six match against India on February 2.
